Biography
Nikolai Stefanovic laid down his arms in Malion the night of March 16, 2013. The proud legionnaire's life changed that day, and France acknowledged it with a medal. Since then, he has been wandering indifferently through the world. Lea, a 39-year-old divorcée owns a bookstore. She's the kind of mousy woman that doesn't turn men's heads. Murder mysteries are her drug of choice, where she gets her adrenalin rush. Real life is not for her. She does her best to avoid other people, and to keep feelings at arm's length. She is just as invisible and detached from ordinary reality as the vagabond former legionnaire is.
These two "beyond the pale" characters will meet. They see each other, speak to each other, shake each other up. They grant some semblance of meaning to each other's lives. Lea has taken up arms. The legionnaire has a new mission: saving her from madness. But Lea wants to love him, to pull him into her world, the other Lea's. They share the wound that enables people to commit the worst in the name of the best. Confrontation is inevitable. Which of the two will overcome the other?

« Anna-Véronique El Baze fait partie de cette génération d'écrivains qui font vibrer les lecteurs par un style âpre, cru et intimiste, dans des polars sous tension, ou la vérité des mots en appelle à la nature profonde des âmes. »V. L., Féminin Senior 01/04/2019
