After WWI, the impossible love story between a young woman married to a disabled soldier and the son of an Italian immigrant back from war without a scratch on him...

When Angelo returns to his village in 1919 after being gone for 11 years, he has only one desire: to find Marie, his first love. However, on the day of his return, the old tower that hovers over the village begins to emit odd sounds which disturb the townspeople. For some, the town has been cursed and is being punished for its past acts. Has Angelo come back to avenge the death of his father? His death weighs heavily on all like a shameful secret.

Doubt and fear settle in amongst the villagers as well as a profound desire to protect themselves against Angelo. In this tense situation, what will happen to the love between the young Italian and Marie? The young woman is the mother of a ten-year-old girl and the wife of Martin, a disabled war hero. While she is repulsed by her husband's physical appearance, she is tremendously grateful to him and struggles with the thought of leaving him.
